The tandoor paste is not essential, however below is a simple mixture you can apply. It is used to season the tandoor, and help protect the clay walls.
If you use the tandoor very regularly, apply once every 3 months, or every 6-12 months if using less regulalry.
Ingredients
100ml yoghurt
200ml mustard oil (or another oil if cant get mustard oil)
150g jaggery
Instructions
Mix the ingredients together (heat up slightly if you need to melt the sugar)
Rub the mixture with a brush/cloth/sponge on the clay walls of your tandoor and then leave for 30 mins.
Then apply another layer of the seasoning mix and leave for an additinal 2 to 3 hours.
You can now begin to light the tandoor.
